Project Background

Traditional refractory-brick linings result in high heat loss, slow heating rates, and increased energy consumption.
To improve the performance of a newly designed hot air furnace, the client selected Hengrui’s ceramic fiber module system to upgrade the thermal insulation structure.

The key project objectives were:

  • 15–25% energy savings compared with refractory brick structures
  • Shorter installation time to accelerate project delivery
  • Improved thermal uniformity and longer furnace service life

The system is used for drying and continuous dehydration of materials such as iron phosphate, nano zinc oxide, and other moisture-containing powders. The application requires high thermal efficiency, fast response, and stable multi-zone temperature control.

Lining Design Solution

To ensure heat efficiency, durability, and uniform temperature distribution, a multi-layer ceramic fiber design was adopted:

1. Furnace Roof

  • 25 mm ceramic fiber blanket (back lining)
  • 280 mm ceramic fiber module

2. Furnace Sidewalls

  • 25 mm ceramic fiber blanket
  • 200 mm ceramic fiber module
  • 50 mm ceramic fiber board (additional insulation & shock resistance)

3. Furnace Bottom

  • 25 mm ceramic fiber blanket
  • 280 mm ceramic fiber module

4. Anchoring System

  • 304 stainless-steel anchors
  • Bolts and nuts
  • Dedicated installation wrench
  • Cold-side anchor positioning for improved corrosion resistance and longer life

Advantages of Ceramic Fiber Modules

    Density of only 192–220 kg/m³—about one-fourth of refractory bricks—reducing furnace weight and thermal load.

    Modular design with pre-positioned anchor points.

    Low thermal conductivity delivers fast heat-up, reduced heat storage, and 15–25% overall energy reduction.
  4. No Dry-Out Required
    After natural air drying of the surface hardener, the furnace can be put into operation immediately.
  5. Durable in High-Temperature Environments
    Anchors positioned away from the hot face ensure excellent resistance to corrosion and thermal shock.
